A 58-year-old grandfather was arrested when he arrived in Newton County under the pretense of meeting an underage girl he met on a chat room.

According to an undercover investigator from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, Wayne Crider, of Danielsville, approached who he believed to be a middle school-aged female on a chat room. During the investigation, which lasted roughly one month, Crider reportedly talked about sexual acts with the "girl" before making the trip to Newton County.

Crider was arrested without incident and charged with sexual exploitation of children and enticing a child for indecent purposes. This is his first arrest on crimes of this nature.
