A Newton County woman called police after her 10-year-old cousin was allegedly punched in the face by the father of two neighborhood boys.
Deputies from the Newton County Sheriff's Office responded and talked with the victim and the victim's cousin.
The 10-year-old was wrestling two neighborhood brothers. The victim stated that the brothers became agitated because he was winning the wrestling match. The brothers' father came out of the house and momentarily stopped the fighting.
The 10-year-old then said that the father allowed the boys to continue wrestling. When the 10-year-old began to beat the brothers again, the father instructed the brothers to go into the house. The father then reportedly punched the child and went back into the house.
Police took the report and left the scene for extra patrolling. However, soon after, the same deputy saw two females outside of the residence where the incident had occurred earlier. The deputy identified the two women as the mother of the two brothers and the mother of the 10-year-old. The deputy advised the mother of the 10-year-old to leave the residence.
The father of the brothers who allegedly punched the child in the face came to the police department to make a statement. The father stated that he stopped the fight and told his sons to get in his truck. The father then stated he took his two sons to the BP gas station on Flat Shoals Road for ice cream.
