Jeffrey Scott Pitts, 36, committed suicide during a shootout with Rockdale County deputies Sunday, May 31, according to an autopsy report.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Pitts died from a gunshot wound to the head. The autopsy was performed by Dr. Kris Sperry, chief medical examiner of Georgia.

The GBI also released dash-cam footage from the shootout that took place at Pitts’ residence, 3535 Ebenezer Road, Conyers.

The footage shows gunfire being exchanged between Pitts and law enforcement, deputies getting Pitts’ father, Alan, to safety and the deputies entering the residence where they find Pitts.

Sherry Lang, public information officer for the GBI, says she can’t say how many bullets were fired from either party because the incident is still under investigation.
