Lunchtime concerts set for Thursdays
Concerts-on-square---Bobby-Swain

A series of concerts, all featuring different styles of music, are set for noon each Thursday in September. All will be held on the Square in Covington, and all are free to the public.

The Arts Association in Newton County and Main Street Covington will host the Daniel Jackson Band (listed as “smooth jazz”) on Sept. 4, Sweet Harmony (“Americana”) on Sept. 11, Celli-Cello Trio (“classical to rock and pop”) on Sept. 18, and the Bobby Swain Band (blues) on Sept. 25.

The concerts will be held on the Square unless the construction continues (it shouldn’t) or it rains (it might). In either event, the alternative site will be Turner Lake. Check the arts association’s website www.newtoncountyarts.org for more information.

The Luncheon Concerts on the Square series is part of the larger summer concerts presented by the association and Main Street Covington this summer. A related concert is planned for Friday, Sept. 12. Mack McKibben & Drive Time will perform from 7-8 p.m.

The Arts Association of Newton County is “the largest arts organization east of Atlanta” and the largest nonprofit group in the county.
