Nell Nixon celebrated her 101 birthday with friends April 22 at her home in Covington. Attending were Lula V. Smith, Kathy Brown, Pamela Vaughn and caregiver Julie. Smith and Nixon have been friends for more than 50 years, sharing many memories of traveling and spending quality time together.

Nixon loves flowers, and Smith has always taken her flowers or a plant for her birthday, and this year was no exception. Both ladies are long-time members of the First Baptist Church. Nell Nixon has been a pillar of this community, and friends and family continue to wish her well.
