 A Newton County man was arrested Monday night after allegedly shooting another man during an altercation.

 According to Newton County Lt. Mark Mitchell, Torrey Deonta Carr, 27, was at a home on Anderson Creek Road when he got into an altercation with another man. The female complainant reportedly told deputies that Carr shot the other man and then left the scene in a silver minivan.

NCSO deputies, as well as surrounding law enforcement agencies, were told to be on the lookout for Carr and he was apprehended without incident in Newton County around 9 p.m. Monday evening.

The victim was transported to an Atlanta hospital. At this time his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, according to Mitchell.

Carr has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and battery. Investigators are looking into what the motive may be in the shooting.
