A Covington woman hopes she can take her readers on a journey of survival with her newly published book,” Rise Above Now.”

Shawn Johnson, a local author from Covington, recently published “Rise Above Now,” which she said takes readers on a journey through Johnson’s divorce, liver cancer and more, as she tells the story of how she overcame her trials.

“The book is about my personal life experience with rejection and how to help others overcome those issues in their life,” Johnson said Thursday. “I just want to share with others that there is life after divorce and other setbacks and you are able to come out strong in the end. God can deliver you from these things and heal you.”

Johnson works for AT&T and has lived in Covington for approximately eight years. She is from Charleston, S.C. She has four children, including students at the county’s theme school and Newton High School.
