After assisting with a locked vehicle Tuesday, Covington Police officers noticed the car parked next to their vehicle showed a no insurance/registration suspended alert on their license plate reader.
According to reports, after two or three minutes a man, identified as Tristan Green, approached the 2000 Volvo S40 and drove out of the parking lot onto Flat Shoals Road.
The officers pulled over the Volvo on Taunton Road. When approached by CPD, Green reportedly told an officer that he knew the tag was suspended and he had no insurance but he “just couldn’t take care of it right now.” According to reports, the officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage and asked Green to step out of the vehicle.
Green told officers he lived “just around the corner, I just want to go home.”
After being asked if he would conduct a few field sobriety tests he stated “my house is right down there.”
Green eventually agreed to the test. As an officer went to turn the emergency lights off in his vehicle Green told him he was going to urinate on the side of the road. According to reports, Green then swore toward the officers and reached his hand inside the waistband of his pants.
According to reports, at this gesture an officer drew his service weapon and ordered Green to remove his hand from his pants. Green refused twice. Fearing there was a weapon, the other officer grabbed Green from behind, manually assisting him to the ground and placing him in handcuffs.
Green then began screaming, “I just want to (urinate) on myself.” Green, who received a small abrasion on his right cheek, according to reports, was charged with disorderly conduct, suspended registration and no insurance.
It doesn’t add up
A call came in to the Covington Police Department from United Bank that a man was depositing single dollar bills through an ATM while inputting hundreds of dollars.
According to reports, the man inserted three dollars in to the ATM for $400 in deposit, one dollar as $200 and the other three as $100 at 9:32 a.m. Wednesday.
Later that day, at around 6 p.m., the same man, reportedly deposited five 20 dollar bills as $700 – four as $100 and another as $300.
Police received ATM pictures, receipts and the bills for investigation.

A Covington woman flagged down a Covington Police officer, reportedly saying she did not want to live anymore because she had nothing to live for.
According to reports, she told the officer that Bob Marley called and asked her several times to send money. Marley asked her to open an account with Peoples Bank and Bank of America, before sending her several checks in her name to cash at the banks. The woman told police that she owes the banks and several creditors money to replace the funds.
According to reports, the woman cashed the checks and sent the funds to Jamaica via Western Union.
The woman told officers she remained in contact with Bob Marley until she threatened to call the police, and Marley told her to never call again.
Newton EMS transported the woman, who said she sent a reported $30,000 to Bob Marley within a year, to Newton Medical Center.
Graffiti at Hays Tractor
An alley behind Hays Tractor was spray painted with graffiti representing the “gangster disciples” Monday, according to reports.
The graffiti painting was caught on the business’s video surveillance system, and the video and photos were taken into evidence.
