Investing in the future: On Sunday, Aug. 1, Covington was hosting two "Back 2 School" events. In addition to the one downtown, one was held at Trailblazer’s Park on Clarke Street.

About 175-200 children and adults gathered from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The event was hosted by "JAP" and Sandhill E.N.T. Kenryan "Jap" Tinsley, a native of Covington, was the event planner.

Sponsors included Town House Cafe, Teen Sports and Signs, Unique Detailing and Liberty Auto Detailing.

The children were given food along with moonwalks, music and school supplies. They played basketball and won prizes such as calculators, flash drives and bookbags.
