I-20 bridge reconstruction to cause lane closure

COVINGTON¬- People traveling westbound on Interstate-20 near exit 90 this weekend may have their trip effected by a reconstruction project on the bridge spanning I-20.

Olympus Painting Contractors will continue bridge joint repair and replacement on the I-20 bridge over the railroad and Old Atlanta Highway. Two lanes will be closed on I-20 westbound from mile 91 to mile 90, as well as the off ramp at Exit 90.
The timeframe of continuous work runs from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, July 13.

This $3.3 million dollar maintenance job on the two interstate bridges crossing SR 12 and the Old Atlanta Highway includes reconstruction of new joint headers in the bridge deck; edge beam and end wall reconstruction; installation of bridge joints; spall repairs of the substructure; epoxy injection into substructure cracks; cap strengthening; repaired slope paving and painting of the existing steel substructure.
