Newly elected State Senator JaNice Van Ness, of District 43, met Mrs. Iris Downs class from Hightower Elementary School at the Georgia capitol recently.

Mrs. Downs’ third grade class was touring the capitol recently to learn about the legislative process.

Van Ness, who represents parts of Newton, Rockdale and DeKalb counties, invites community members to call her or Kathleen Cominski at for information for groups. Formal tours are available by scheduling them with the Senate office at 404-463-2598.

The legislative session began on Monday, January 11, 2016 and will continue into late March.
