Healthy Hearts Ball
Middle Ridge pre-k students have fun learning about heart health

More than a dozen pre-K boys and girls dressed up and escorted their parents to the Healthy Hearts Ball at Middle Ridge Elementary School Friday morning. The ball was held as part of American Heart Month and helped to educate the students on keeping their hearts healthy by exercising and eating right.

Not a frown could be found in the themed cafeteria. The students and parents entered on a red carpet through dangling paper hearts and onto a dance floor lit by a colorful disco ball. Parents, teachers and students alike boogied to “The Hokie Pokie Song,” “The Cupid Shuffle,” “The Electric Slide” and other upbeat songs before taking a break to nibble on healthy snacks.

The fun didn’t stop at school, though. Students and their parents were given a flyer on healthy eating and a copy of the fun music played at the ball to take home with them.
