From a scholarship for community service to scholarships for education majors to a healthcare scholarship specifically for Walton County residents, students enrolled at the Georgia Perimeter College Newton Campus can find ways to help fund their education — but first, they have to apply.
The following are a few of the scholarships available for students exclusively enrolled on the GPC Newton Campus:
DAFFODIL FESTIVAL
Criteria: Current GPC students enrolled full-time (12 or more credit hours) on the Newton Campus.
Must Submit:
-Scholarship Application
-Essay (250 words minimum) describing your community -and volunteer service.
-Two letters of recommendation:
One from a GPC faculty member or high school teacher and one from a community leader. The letters must be signed by the recommenders.
-Have a 2.5 or higher GPA
Scholarship Amount: $500 for tuition, fees, books, and educational expenses.
JUNIUS AND SARAH GARRISON SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Current GPC students enrolled at the Newton campus majoring in Education with plans to teach Mathematics in high school or college.
Must submit:
-Scholarship Application
-Unofficial academic transcript
-Essay (100 words or less) describing why you have chosen the field of education.
A letter of recommendation from a GPC faculty member. The letter must be signed by the recommender.
-Have a 2.8 or higher GPA
Scholarship Amount: $250 for tuition, fees, and books.
JEWEL V. HIATT AND SAMUEL ABNER HIATT SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Students on the Newton Campus who have successfully completed at least 30 credit hours at GPC and have declared Education as a major and are currently providing service to the community.
Must submit:
-Scholarship Application
-Unofficial academic transcript
-A letter of recommendation from a GPC faculty member or a non-related mentor, employer, minister or community leader. The letter must be signed by the recommender.
-Have a 3.0 or higher GPA
Scholarship Amount: $750 for tuition, fees, books and educational expenses.
DAWN MALTAIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Criteria: Female students enrolled on the Newton Campus who have completed at least 10 credit hours at GPC and are enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) during the Fall 2014 semester.
Must submit:
-Scholarship Application
-Unofficial academic transcript
-2 letters of recommendation (one from a GPC faculty member and one from a non-related professional or supporter). The letters must be signed by the recommenders.
-Have a 2.5 or higher GPA
Scholarship Amount: $500 for tuition, fees, books and living expenses.
WALTON COUNTY HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION ASSISTANCE FUND
Criteria: Current GPC students majoring in Biology, Chemistry, Pre-Health Careers, Nursing, or Dental Hygiene who permanently reside in Walton County, Georgia.
Must submit:
Application (please use the Walton County Health Care Foundation Application available on our website) and submit all documentation required by the application.
No minimum GPA
Scholarship Amount: maximum of $1,500 per academic year for tuition, fees, books and educational expenses.
Deadline for all applications is Wednesday, Oct. 1, and must be faxed, mailed or hand-delivered (no emails.) to:
