LEESBURG, Ga. (AP) — American Idol finalist Phillip Phillips is coming home to southwest Georgia. The 21-year-old contestant on the Fox TV show will visit his hometown of Leesburg Saturday, where community leaders have declared it Phillip Phillips Day, The Albany Herald reported (http://bit.ly/JpefFS ). Phillips was named one of three finalists on the show Thursday. The others are 20-year-old gospel singer Joshua Ledet of Westlake, La.; and 16-year-old pop singer Jessica Sanchez of San Diego. All three finalists are making visits to their hometowns, which will be incorporated into the show. In Leesburg, Phillips supplements his singing income by working at his family's pawn shop. "People are calling from all over the state saying they plan to come (to the celebration)," Leesburg City Councilwoman Judy Powell said at a council meeting Thursday. Leesburg Mayor Jim Quinn and Commission Chairman Ed Duffy are expected to present copies of city and county proclamations to Phillips. Also planned is a Saturday afternoon parade, and a performance by Phillips at the Lee County High School football stadium.
