A career fair for aspiring deputies and officers will be held at the Law Enforcement Academy of Georgia Piedmont Technical (GPTC), 8100 Bob Williams Parkway in Covington on Monday, Oct. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon.

“A career in law enforcement is a rewarding, life-long career,” says Major Harry McCann, director of GPTC’s Law Enforcement Academy.  “It’s an indescribable feeling for somebody who you have arrested to come back later and say, ‘Thank you---you saved my life. I cannot imagine doing anything else as a career.  Nothing else compares to the service that law enforcement officers provide.”

The agencies looking to hire include the Covington Police Department, Lilburn Police Department, Savannah-Chatham County Police Department and the DeKalb County Police Department.  Representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) also plan to attend.
