Georgia Ophthalmologists will host the grand opening of its new 8,000 square foot state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center housed in its existing patient care facility at 4159 Mill Street in Covington.

The new surgery center is expected to be operational by Nov. 10.

The new center will be equipped to accommodate a range of ocular surgeries including cataract, glaucoma and oculoplastic procedures.

“Our new surgery center allows us to provide the best possible outcomes for patients needing eye surgery,” Dr. Jose Bigles-Geigel, founder of Georgia Ophthalmologists said. “For example, our center is equipped with the latest technology such as the CATALYS laser system which makes laser cataract surgery possible. This adds comfort and leads to faster recovery after surgery. There are only a few of these systems in the entire state.”

Ronnie Johnston, Covington Mayor, said the new center will bring more opportunities to the city of Covington.

“This new surgery center is certainly impressive and representative of the ever expanding quality medical capabilities we offer citizens of Covington and the surrounding counties,” Johnston said.

In addition to surgery, the range of services offered by the Covington and Jackson locations include, routine eye exams, glasses and contact lenses. Services are provided by a medical staff of more than 30, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, ophthalmic technicians, nurses and licensed opticians.
