Average retail gasoline prices in the area have fallen 6.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.60/gal yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.79/gal, according to gasoline price website AtlantaGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Atlanta during the past week, prices yesterday were 34.1 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 32.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 0.8 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 33.2 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.

"In the last few years, we've typically seen a seasonal downward trend at the gas pump as the cooler temperatures invade," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "We just haven't seen any sort of real decline at the pump yet this autumn. This year has seen one of the warmest ever- temperatures and gasoline prices alike," DeHaan said.
