A 73-year-old former professor at Georgia College and State University was arrested yesterday and charged with sexual exploitation of a child.

According to an investigator with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, Frank Evans Thompson, Jr. was arrested following a lengthy investigation that began in Nov. 2009. He was charged with sexual exploitation of children, electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor and computer pornography and child exploitation act of 2007.

During the investigation Thompson reportedly chatted with someone he believed was a female in her early teens several times in a chat room as well as allegedly masturbated on a Web cam.
