Newton Trails' Wednesday walk series, “Every Body Walk Newton,” will begin on Wednesday, May 18 on the Eastside High School end of Eastside Trail at 6 p.m.
Volunteers have committed to lead the May through June, seven walk series on trails in Newton County. Most walks are leisurely and young children are encouraged to bring their bikes. Children participating in five of the seven walks will receive a coupon for a free ice cream treat.
Future walks are scheduled:
- Wednesday, May 25 on the Newton County Library end of the Eastside Trail;
- Wednesday, June 1 on the Yellow River Park trails in Porterdale. Meet at the Porterdale Depot on Railroad and Broad Streets across from the Porterdale Mill Lofts;
- Wednesday, June 8 on the Oxford Trail. Meet at Old Church at Wesley Street in Oxford;
- Wednesday, June 15 on the Eastside High School end of the Eastside Trail
- Wednesday, June 22 on the Newton County Library end of the Eastside Trail; and
- Wednesday, June 29 on the Yellow River Park trails in Porterdale. Meet at the Porterdale Depot on Railroad and Broad Streets across from the Porterdale Mill Lofts.
