Eastside FFA hosts meat, plant sale

The Eastside High School FFA chapter is hosting a Boston Butt sale from noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 30 at the high school, but tickets must be purchased ahead of time.

Each butt will cost $30, which pays for a 6 to 8 pound butt that will be fully seasoned, cooked and smoked.
Tickets can be purchased from now until March 15 by calling 770-784-2967. Proceeds go to support the agriculture program at Eastside.

Eastside’s FFA program is also preparing for its spring plant sale.

Several varieties of flowers and other plants will be sold, including Vinca, Petunias, Dianthus, Angelonia, Gallardia, Echineaca, Boston Fern baskets, Begonia, Impatiens, Salvia, Better Boy Tomatoes, Rutgers Tomatoes, Super Sweet Cherry Tomatoes, sweet banana peppers, cayenne peppers, jalapeño peppers and bell peppers.

Plants are available for pre-sale now. Appointments to pick up plants can be schedule between April 1-5 by calling Eastside agriculture teacher Shannon Lawrence at 770-784-2967 or emailing her at lawrence.shannon@newton.k12.ga.us.

The school will host an open greenhouse for plants from 3 to 6 p.m. April 8-10 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 12.
