Deputies from the Newton County Sheriffs Department were called to a home on Russel Braden Road in reference to a family fight but, when they arrived, found a man staring into the trees.

When they approached the man, identified as Matthew Bringle, they could reportedly smell alcohol coming from him, and when deputies asked him what he was doing outside staring at trees at 3:30 a.m. he allegedly said "I’m talking to the squirrels."

Deputies spoke with another person at the home who allegedly reported that Bringle had gotten drunk and started turning over porch furniture. While speaking with the complainant, Bingle reportedly started yelling "take me to jail," and "what are you charging me with?"

Deputies told Bingle to lower his voice so that he could speak with the complainant and Bingle reportedly refused to do so and continued to yell and curse about being locked up. He also allegedly kept screaming "what are you charging me with?"

Bingle’s failure to calm down led to his being arrested and transported to the Newton County Detention Center where he was charged with disorderly conduct.
