Linda E. Long, the 62-year-old driver of an SUV that was struck by a train over Fourth of July weekend, succumbed to her injuries Monday night.

Long was reportedly driving her SUV with her husband in the passenger seat around 1 p.m. July 3. The vehicle reportedly went around the lowered crossing bars at the railroad tracks at Ga. Highway 81, or North Emory Street, near The Depot and was hit by a westbound train. The vehicle was pushed approximately 50-yards down the tracks.

The vehicle’s passenger, Long’s husband, Danny, remains in serious condition at Grady Hospital.
