Donations to the family of Newton County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin White can now be made at any branch of Bank of North Georgia by making a secure deposit to the “Deputy Justin White Memorial Fund.”
For those who are not near a bank branch, donations can also be mailed to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. Address the letters in attention to the Deputy Justin White Memorial Fund at 15151 Alcovy Road, Covington, GA 30014. The memo section of checks or money orders should be made out to Justin White.
White, who was 28 years old, was on his way to an emergency call around 2:34 a.m. Oct. 30 in a marked patrol vehicle with emergency equipment activated, according to a statement from the Georgia Department of Public Safety Public Information Office.
The right side tires of his vehicle reportedly left the roadway and entered the west shoulder before re-entering the southbound lanes for Highway 162. White lost control of the vehicle and eventually struck and embankment and overturned, coming to an uncontrolled rest on its roof on the south shoulder of Mote Road, facing east.
The deputy was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Atlanta Medical Center. There was no airbag deployed in the accident.
White’s family also started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds during his hospital stay.
Brittany Gaynes, Morgan White’s cousin, started the campaign and submitted an update stating the money will be given to Morgan for any expenses she may have. The rest of the money will go to their daughter. Donations can be made at https://www.gofundme.com/2wsscic.
