After 25 years, Keep Covington/Newton Beautiful lost its executive director on Tuesday to retirement.
Connie Waller says it’s actually 28 years that’s she’s worked for the county, if you count the three years she worked part-time.
Tuesday, Waller spent her time cleaning out her office of a quarter-century’s worth of accumulations.
The county will hold a ceremony to honor Waller from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 12. The observance will be held in the third floor reception room of the Newton County Administration Building, 1113 Usher St.
Waller plans to stay active in cleanup efforts, but will devote herself at first to her four grandchildren.
"They are luckily requiring a lot of time," she said.
