Tonight while many Newton County residents are sleeping, time will "spring forward." At 2 a.m. this morning, most of America will set their clocks forward one hour for daylight savings time.
The only states that do not adhere to the time change are: Arizona, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Daylight saving times used to spring forward on the first Sunday in April and fall back on the last Sunday in October. However, in 2005, the U.S. Congress changed the date in an effort to save more energy. Pictured above is a magnolia tree off Floyd Street in downtown Covington, which was already blooming in February.
