Incidents at Eastside lead to charges
Eastside High School

COVINGTON, Ga. – Five students were charged in juvenile complaints and one was charged as an adult in two separate incidents at Eastside High School, according to the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

In an Oct. 27 incident, two female students face charges through the juvenile court after being found in possession of marijuana at the school.

“Drugs on campus will not be tolerated," Newton County School System spokesperson Sherri Davis-Viniard said. "Each of the students involved has been charged with violating the student code of conduct.”

An early Monday morning physical altercation at the school between four female students resulted in three being charged through the juvenile court. The fourth student was charged as an adult and written a citation to appear in magistrate court for her part in the fight.

“Four students were involved in a fight on campus," Davis-Viniard said. "As a result, they have each been charged with violating the student code of conduct.”

According to a NCSO spokesman, no injuries were reported in the fight.
