A funeral will be held Saturday for a Covington woman who died in an apparent murder-suicide.

Police said Kristy Robinson, 35, of Covington, died in DeKalb County Sunday after she was shot by the father of one of her children during a domestic dispute.

Public Information Officer Meeka Parish with the DeKalb County Police Department said police were called to a home at the 2800 block of Vining Ridge Terrace in Decatur on Dec. 1 shortly before 11 p.m. in reference to shots fired.

When officers arrived, they found Robinson dead of a gunshot wound in front of the home, Parish said. The suspect, whose named had not been released at press time, had fled the location, she said.

Parish said two children who were in the home at the time of the shooting, ages 15 and 8, were not injured.

She said detectives believed the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. Parish said the suspect was the father of the victim’s youngest child.

Parish said sometime later, DeKalb police were notified by the Atlanta Police Department about a death in Atlanta from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"We were later able to connect that individual back to our homicide here in DeKalb," Parish said.

An APD spokesperson could not be reached for comment.

Friends of Robinson said she once lived in the Settler’s Grove community in Covington.

A spokesperson for Lester Lackey and Sons Funeral Home said services for Robinson will be at noon Dec. 7 at Sims Chapel Baptist Church, Ga. Highway 142.
