A Covington woman has been arrested by Walton County authorities and charged with the March 18 murder of her boyfriend.

Holly Threadgill, 32, was charged with murder, aggravated assault and cruelty to children in the shooting death of 23-year-old Dallas Williams III.

The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. on March 18 at a home on Lower Jersey Road, which is located in Walton County but has a Newton County mailing address, according to Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman. He said that Threadgill first told investigators that Williams had attempted to stop her from committing suicide and the gun went off and struck him. She later admitted that the two had been fighting and she was trying to intimidate him with the gun, which went off when they were fighting over it.

She remains in the Walton County Jail without bond.
