Smith named Mayor Pro-tem

Chris Smith was appointed Covington Mayor Pro-tem during the city council meeting Monday night. Mayor Ronnie Johnston said the council rotates its pro-tem appointments between the east and the west ward, and this year the spot was supposed to go to the council seat occupied by Josh McKelvey. However, since McKelvey was just elected in November, the position was rotated to Smith, who is in the second year of his second term on the council.
