Even a little rain could not stop the City of Covington from throwing a grand celebration Sunday for the Fourth of July. Citzens from Newton, Rockdale, and surrounding areas poored out to the Covington square to participate in what would turn out to be a night full of fun and excitment.
The festivites began at 2:30 p.m. with live entertainment from country, pop, bluegrass, rock, and many other bands representing all different kinds of genres.
The Covington All Stars performed at approximately 8:20 p.m. and was the last act to perform for the fireworks. The fireworks were shot at a location on the square and lit up the night sky with different colors.
