Covington attorney elected to Board of Governors of State Bar of Georgia

W. Gregory Pope of The Pope Law Firm P.C. in Covington was elected to serve on the Board of Governors of the 47,000-member State Bar of Georgia and was installed June 20 during the organization’s Annual Meeting.

Pope will serve in the Alcovy Judicial Circuit, Post 1 seat on the board. He earned his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1996.

His law practice focuses on workers’ compensation and personal injury law. Pope is a past president of the Newton County Bar Association and a past chair of the Youth Judicial Program of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division. He is also a past president of the Rotary Club of Covington and a past chair of the Newton County Finance Drive for the State YMCA of Georgia.

The Board of Governors is the 160-member policymaking authority of the State Bar, with representation from each of Georgia’s judicial circuits. The board holds regular meetings at least four times per year.
