COVINGTON, Ga. — A Covington man died from injuries after a crash Saturday.

Newton County Coroner Tommy Davis said 20-year-old Malik Stanley died after the crash on Plum Orchard Drive on Saturday night.

  • The Newton County Sheriff’s Office had said at least one person was hurt after a crash involving a pickup truck and a dirt bike Saturday night.

Davis said there were three accidents in the county around the same time Saturday evening, all of which resulted in serious injuries. The Plum Orchard Drive accident is the only one to involve a confirmed fatality.

Witnesses told The Covington News medical helicopters and other personnel were dispatched to the Walmart at 4200 Salem Road to assist in the life-saving effort of another accident that took place on Brown Bridge Road.

A third accident was reported on Deering Street near the Covington Bypass.

Editor’s note: This story has been corrected, after an earlier report from law enforcement indicated the crash occurred on nearby Brown Bridge Road.
