Newton County's 11 Recycling Centers will be open Monday, Jan. 9 to accommodate residents due to the threat of Winter Storm Helena.

Hours of operation for the centers will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.

Typically the centers are open Tuesday through Saturday. However, the centers, along with Newton County's landfill, were closed Saturday, Jan. 7 as a precaution against potential ice on the roadways.

Winter Stom Helena missed Newton County, and heavy snow and ice conditions were avoided.

Beginning Jan. 16, the centers will resume their regular operating schedule - Tuesdays through Fridays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
