Pipe bursts at Judicial Center
Water
(Darryl Welch | The Covington News)

COVINGTON, Ga. - Shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday a flange on a water line going into the Newton County Judicial Center failed. The failure caused a rush of water out of the 8-inch pipe and resulted in some water getting inside the building.

With control panels being on a raised platform, the water did not affect the electrical system of the building. The courts were open for regular business on Friday.

There was no construction on the Judicial Center expansion project at the time and the flange is believed to have failed on its own.
