COVINGTON, Ga. - Newton County is adjusting its landfill hours for Saturday, Dec. 22 and maintaining regular hours for its Convenience and Recycling Centers during the Christmas holiday.

The Newton County Landfill, located at 205 Lower River Road, Covington, Ga, will close early on Saturday, Dec. 23. The landfill will open at 8 a.m. and close at noon on that day.

The landfill will then be closed the day of Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25. The landfill will reopen Tuesday, Dec. 26 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. while all other county offices will be closed to observe the Christmas holiday.

Newton County’s five Convenience Centers and one Recycling Centers will be open Friday, Dec. 22, Saturday, Dec. 23 and Tuesday, Dec. 26 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The centers will be closed on Christmas Eve, Sunday, Dec. 24 and Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25.
