Newton County is hosting a series of community meetings to gather input during the update of its Unified Development Ordinance.
The County’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) combines land use regulations such as zoning, subdivision regulations and design guidelines into a single document to bring the Comprehensive Plan to life.
In July, Newton County began working with consultant Kendig Keast to analyze its current plans. Following the review stage, step two of the process is public outreach. Newton County is now going out into the community to gather information from the public.
Community meetings will be held in each district from Sept. 23 through Oct. 3. Newton County residents are invited to participate in the community meetings, regardless of the district. All meetings begin at 6 p.m. in the following locations:
District 1 – Thursday, Oct. 3 at Eastridge Community Church of Covington, 14200 Hwy 36 Covington, Ga
District 2 – Monday, Sept. 30 at Zion Baptist Church, 7037 Hwy 212, Covington, Ga
