A recent update provided about the Nelson Heights Community Center (NHCC) does not provide a lot of optimism for its imminent re-opening. The NHCC has been widely dormant since Aug. 30, 2023 when the commissioners voted to terminate the lease between the Nelson Heights Community Services 501(c)(3) and the county after it was discovered the building was being subleased, which was a direct violation of the lease agreement.
