COVINGTON, Ga. – The Covington News has confirmed that former Newton County Recreation Director Anthony Avery is no longer employed by the county.

According to a statement to The News from Public Information Officer Bryan Fazio, the Newton County Board of Commissioners reviewed with the county Recreation Commission’s Nov. 27 recommendation to terminate Avery and agreed with the recommendation.

Avery was officially terminated Jan. 30. He had been on administrative leave since Nov. 28.
