COVINGTON, Ga. - Newton County officials, joined by members of the county's senior community gathered at Turner lake Friday morning to break ground for the expansion of the Newton County Senior Center.

"This is an awesome day for us," BOC Chairman Marcello Banes said," We're so excited about the new expansion here. This is going to provide so many different opportunities for so many seniors in our community."

The $1.7 million expansion is funded by the money raised from the county's 2017 SPLOST.
