Community prays for leaders

The Rotary and Kiwanis clubs of Covington met for the annual Prayer Breakfast at First Baptist Church of Covington Friday.

Dicky Clark, former Georgia football player and coach andGeorgia Director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was the guest speaker.

Clark was a member of the University of Georgia football staff as outside linebacker coach from 1981-1996
The former All-SEC player for the Bulldogs joined the Georgia staff in 1981 after serving two seasons as assistant coach at Vanderbilt. The native of Rossville, GA., was one of Vanderbilt’s top recruiters and also coached the Commodore cornerbacks in 1980.

He serviced as a graduate assistant at Georgia in 1977 and ’78 after his playing days with the Bulldogs, where he started on two of Georgia’s most outstanding teams. He was an All-SEC defensive end and defensive captain of the 1976 SEC Championship team which posted a 10-1 regular season mark and played national champion Pittsburgh in the Sugar Bowl. He also started on the 1975 "Junkyard Dog” team that went 9-2 and played Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl.

He was named to the 1976 Churchman’s All-American team following the championship season. While at Georgia, Clark was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and continued that involvement at Vanderbilt. A B.S. Degree graduate of Georgia, he is a former star quarterback at Rossville High School.

Clark then accepted the position of State Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in February 1996. In October, 2000, he became the FCA Regional Director for Georgia and South Carolina, and now he serves as the FCA Vice President of Field Ministry in Georgia and Florida.
