Wescott defeats Gray in Porterdale council race

PORTERDALE, Ga. — Angela “Niki” Wescott was elected to the Porterdale City Council on Tuesday.

Wescott got 69 votes to incumbent Terry J. Gray’s 32 in the Post 1 race.

Wescott will begin her term in January.

Mayor Arline Chapman won a new term without opposition, as did Post 2 Councilwoman Linda Finger.

The city’s “brunch bill,” which allows for the sale of alcohol by the drink between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, passed 67 votes to 25.
