Because of weather forecasts that mention the possibility of severe weather, the City of Porterdale is postponing its planned Fourth of July festivities until Saturday, July 6.

The schedule on that date will remain the same: the parade at 4 p.m.; a concert by local band TNG from 5-9 p.m.; and a cage-wrestling match from 5-8 p.m.

Fireworks will follow.

A city official said the date was due to concerns that lightning on the Fourth would force cancellation of the fireworks.
