Long-time Porterdale resident, Robert Sullivan, 92, was on hand for the village's Veterans Day events. Sullivan, who was in the Army, said he hit Omaha Beach on June 7, 1944, and was in France and Luxembourg, before being wounded in Germany during the Battle of Hürtgen Forest, one of the bloodiest fights of the war.

Sullivan, surrounded by Porterdale area Veterans, also took time to step into a dance during Tiger Bragg's performance of "Galveston."

Cadets from Newton High School's Marine JROTC presented the colors during the services, which where held for Veteran's Day in Porterdale.
