Santa Claus and his reindeer will be coming to Porterdale at 7 tonight for the annual Porterdale Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony.

The parade, which includes members of the Newton High School Marching Band and several other local organizations, will begin at the Village Inn, travel down Broad Street and end at the Historic Train Depot. Santa Claus will light the Christmas tree and star to bring Christmas to Porterdale.

After the parade, Santa will be at the depot for children to tell him their Christmas wishes. The Porterdale Baptist Church Choir will also perform at the depot after the parade.

Local businesses will be selling coffee, hot chocolate and other treats. Fire pits with marshmallow roasting will also be available.

The event is provided by the City of Porterdale.

Groups wishing to participate in the parade can sign up by downloading the entry form from www.cityofporterdale.com, or can pick up an entry form from Porterdale City Hall.
