The Friends of Porterdale, city of Porterdale and the Porterdale Women's Club are sponsoring the third annual Porterdale Reunion from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The reunion is not just a time to catch up with old friends and show off town memorabilia, but also a festival for all to enjoy.

Registration for the reunion begins at 10 a.m. At noon Sandy Fowler, on behalf of the Porterdale downtown program and the Downtown Development Authority, will host a dedication ceremony for the recently approved Yellow River Park.

Arts and crafts vendors and children's activities will be provided by downtown merchants as well as some from other places in Georgia.

Band of Brothers of Perry, Joe Capell and Anita Denny and Ronnie and Marcia McCart and a variety of other country music singers will perform. Smiley's, Jimbo's Grill at the Mill, Baby Cakes, Burnie's BBQ and Cork Poppers will offer delectable treats to visitors.

The Friends of Porterdale will launch and sell the reprint of Lucille Ivey Shaw's book, "Diary of a Cotton Mill Girl," and as always will be selling decorative paving bricks to raise funds for the rebuilding of the Porterdale gym as a community center.
