Cars and bikes will be on display and plates of barbecue will be served at Prospect Church next weekend.

Elevate Student Ministry, the youth ministry at Prospect, will hold its fourth annual Car-B-Que from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 28. The church is at 6752 Ga. Highway 212.

Youth pastor Bobby Fleck said the Car-B-Que will feature a car, truck and bike show, along with a barbecue meal of slow-cooked barbecue pork, bread, coleslaw and drink. The car/bike show is free; barbecue plates will cost $8.

"We normally do somewhere around 200-plus plates or so for pre-orders, and we make enough so that people can come up and buy the day of," Fleck said.

He said anyone interested in showing a vehicle or participating as a vendor at the event can pre-register online at elevate.prospectchurchonline.org.

The cost to register a vehicle or serve as a vendor is $25. Registration for the car show on the day of the event will begin at 9 a.m.

Fleck said awards will be presented after the car show.

"People come out, and they walk through the cars and enjoy the fellowship and conversation that goes on there. We usually have some games and activities for kids to do while they’re walking around," Fleck said.

Youths from the Elevate Student Ministry have worked together to sell tickets and promote the Car-B-Que, Fleck said.

"They show up the day of, and I think we had close to 30 youths show up last year. They actually ran the event,’’ he said. "So it’s really their fundraiser."

Fleck said the event helps to raise money for youth-group activities throughout the year, such as fishing and camping trips.
