You can get a quick tour of the heavens and a potluck supper, too, on Saturday at the monthly meeting of the Charlie Elliott Chapter of the Atlanta Astronomy Club.

The free event begins at 4 p.m. and is held at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Visitors Center 543 Elliott Trail off Ga. Highway 11 south of Mansfield.

The celestial tour is a screening of a National Geographic film, "Journey to the Edge of the Universe," which takes you from Earth, past the moon and out of the solar system, according to a release.

A "Sunset Time Alert" will follow the feature presentation for those who wish to set up observing equipment on the nearby observing field before dark. Sunset will occur at 6:43 p.m.

The main presentation will be followed by "Current Events in Astronomy & Space Exploration" and "Observing 101, featuring graphics and other visuals of coming celestial events, including sky locations of currently visible planets, comets and other interesting sky phenomena.

After the final presentation and weather-permitting, you can enjoy an evening of observing near the CE Wildlife Visitors Center — either with your own telescope or by viewing through those brought by club members.
