Celebrate peace Friday

The community is invited to a peaceful event at the Covington Montessori School Friday.

In celebration of the International Day of Peace, the school will hold their Peace Pole Ceremony - an annual event the school has been holding for the last decade.

All students at the school - ages 3 through eighth grade - will participate in the ceremony. They sing songs, read quotes from famous people who encourage peace, make symbolic gestures and gather around the peace pole. The goal is to make the children aware for peace, not only locally but internationally as well.

The community is invited to attend the ceremony, which will begin at 2 p.m. and lasts roughly 20 minutes. It will be held at the school's peace pole, located between the school and the community garden. The Montessori School is located in Clark's Grove on Summers Street.
