Oxford on Saturday: You can learn about proper tree-planting techniques and take home seedlings at the city of Oxford's Arbor Day observance from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at City Hall.

Cousins Middle School students will demonstrate how to plant a tree and proper ways to mulch a tree (Hint: Don't smother the roots with a massive mound of mulch).

Educational games will be held for elementary and middle school students, with prizes for all.

Seedlings will be provided through the Service Guild of Covington.

Inside City Hall, Tree City and Growth awards will be presented, new trees will be dedicated and winners of the Palmer-Stone Elementary School art contest will be announced. Information about the city's trees and their worth will be displayed and refreshments will be available.
