Registration is still open for the Piedmont Cattlemen's Association's 18th Annual Live and Silent Auction fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
Glen Hayes, the organizer for the event, said the community has until Tuesday, Sept. 11 to RSVP for the event, which will take place at the FFA-FCCLA Camp on Ga. Highway 36.
Tickets for the event are $15 and will include a rib-eye steak dinner. Attendees are asked to keep their tickets to participate in door prizes.
Hayes said proceeds from the event will go towards four college scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each for Newton, Jasper, Butts and Rockdale counties.
Hayes said the scholarships will be awarded to 4-H and FFA students at the end of the school year.
The funds raised will also benefit FFA banquets, livestock shows, beef promotions and other 4-H and FFA youth programs.
Hayes said FFA is important to students because it helps teach them responsibility by raising livestock. He said FFA is also a good program because it gives students something to do and keeps them out of trouble.
Anyone interested in attending the auction should call (770) 786-3737.
